- Football - Europe - UEFA - UEFA Cup
I think the odds have over-factored Atletico Madrid's need to overturn a 0-1 first leg deficit.
In truth, Atletico Madrid have been struggling, especially with a crowded fixture in 2008 - La Liga, Copa & now, the UEFA Cup. Moreover, it doesn't help that they have a lengthy injury list & several players are underperforming. More importantly, their 2 key players Aguero & Raul Garcia are suspended & Simao, Motta, Luis Garica & Reyes are doubts. Also, suspect Abbiati is still keep in goal with Leo Franco injured.
In the first leg, Atletico Madrid showed they were extremely vulnerable to set-pieces & long, aerial balls - Bolton's blend of football since Allardyce's days. The Trotters will be a threat again - from corners (that Abbiati concedes) & free-kicks (from an generally ill-disciplined Atletico Madrid side).
The odds is not a fair reflection of the game in question, given Atletico Madrid's absentees. Therefore, I find value in opposing them to win this by 2 or more.
My price: Bolton +0. 75 2. 00
