- Football - Italy - Serie A
Probable starting lineups:
Rafael; Piscante, Alves, Capuano, Murru; Tachtsidis; Isla, Di Genaro, Dessena, Barella; Boriello
Buffon; Lichtsteiner, Bonucci, Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Khedira, Pjanic; Cuadrado, Dybala, Mandzukic; Higuain
I expect a small surprise at Stadio Sant'Elia and I think Cagliari could stay unbeaten against the leaders. The Sardinians play solid at home in the recent period. Cagliari have 27 points and they are not involved into the relegation battle. That means they have no pressure and that's very important. Most of the points were obtained at home - 23 of their 27 points are earned at the Sant’Elia, the highest proportional discrepancy of any club in Serie A. The actual results are also good, Cagliari have two wins and one draw on the last three home matches in Serie A. Even more, they scored nine goals on the mentioned three games. Here are the results:
29. 01. 2017. Cagliari v Bologna 1:1
15. 01. 2017. Cagliari v Genoa 4:1
22. 12. 2016. Cagliari v Sassuolo 4:3
However, the truth is that Juventus are the best team in Serie A. The Old Lady are the reigning champions and they are in excellent form at the moment. Juve have won the last four matches and the players confidence is high. Nevertheless, Juventus showed some weaknesses away from home this season. Alegri's men have already suffered at Fiorentina (lost 2:1), Genoa (lost 3:1), AC Milan (lost 1:0) and Inter (lost 2:1). Just to mention, Cagliari hold a better home record than Fiorentina and Milan.
Finally, Cagliari have some success against Juve in the last period. Last time they were in Serie A, in the season 2014/15, the match played on 09. 05. 2015 finished with an 1:1 draw. I expect something similar.
